3G Mobile Phone tester

Welcome to 3G Mobile Phone Tester

2201 ProLock

The 3G mobile phone tester for repair shops

2201 ProLock is a reasonably priced test instrument for 3G mobile phones and wireless data cards. Level 1 and level 2 service shops use ProLock to quickly test wireless devices, perform smaller repairs and bill manufacturers for warranty claims.

The 2201 ProLock is similar to the 4100 and 4200 series instruments because it is small, easy to use and affordable to large mobile phone retailers with a repair shop in the back office. ProLock, however, supports both GSM and WCDMA phones and wireless devices. Many mobile phones today include WCDMA functionality; manufacturers start to demand WCDMA testing in case of warranty claims from repair shops. ProLock fills the gap between the cheap GSM-only testers and sophisticated 3G test sets!

Repair shops and manufacturers benefit
Local, small and medium size repair shops have been replaced by centralised repair factories. This led to customer dissatisfaction and high cost for small repairs or in the No Fault Found case. With the 2201 ProLock, smaller repair shops filter out these phones and return them to the customer almost immediately, resulting in satisfied customers and low cost of reverse logistics.

Intelligent 3G test system for service
We are offering a complete test system for automated tests without much user interaction. The system consists of:

  • 2201 ProLock: sets up test call and takes GSM, GPRS and/or WCDMA measurements at the required accuracy, in manual mode or automatically through Lector
  • 4916 Antenna Coupler: connects the phone or wireless data card to the tester, rendering extra RF connectors unnecessary and including the antenna in the test
  • 4921 RF Shield: avoids interference with real networks or other test stations
  • 7312 Lector Enhanced: allows even untrained personnel to perform reliable testing of standard mobile phones from any Windows PC, with Pass/Fail verdict and test protocol
  • 7360 Coupling Factor Update License: Provides 7312 Lector Enhanced with database of coupling factors for popular phones and data cards; can automatically be updated through the Internet via Lector

Where is the RF connector!
With the design of the 2201 ProLock, your workbench stays clear for the repair because the RF connector is on the back of the instrument. The only plug on the front panel connects the 2201 with an external computer mouse or keyboard – but you don’t necessarily need any of these.

Highlights:

  • Affordable mobile phone test set for point-of-return and service tests
  • Separates defective from faultless phones
  • RF connector on the back for clear and tidy work bench
  • Select any or all of these systems: GSM, GPRS, WCDMA
  • Includes remote control software from a PC through 7311 Lector Basic
  • Lector test protocols prove which phone has been tested, with serial number, date and time, and results

3100 Mobile Fault Finder

A Go/NoGo Tester for Simple Testing of 2G/3G Mobile Devices

The 3100 Mobile Fault Finder was designed to meet the requirements of point-of-return and service center functional testing.  It provides a user-friendly and cost-effective way to identify "No Fault Found" devices being returned from the market.  Additionally, the 3100 provides a quick functional verification of mobile devices as they leave the service centre, ensuring proper operation when returned to the customer. The 3100 has no display and is therefore remote controlled from a PC via a simple serial or USB connection. The PC application is very simple to use and provides easy management of mobile characterisation values.

Service centres test HSDPA-enabled wireless devices with 4400 series

New software options to its flagship mobile phone tester

Ismaning (Germany) and Cheadle Hulme (Cheshire, UK), 18 March 2008 , a global supplier of the mobile communications industry, today announced two new options for tests and measurements on wireless devices supporting HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). The options to the 4400 Mobile Phone Tester Series complement the system options already available for all relevant mobile communication standards including WCDMA, EDGE, GSM/GPRS, CDMA2000 1xRTT and 1xEVDO, and TD-SCDMA. The 4400 series is used by major service centres in the test and repair of mobile phones and wireless data devices. The options are available immediately.

The new 4455 HSDPA Call Mode Option, its helps service centres and repair factories to identify and locate faults in HSDPA-enabled wireless devices. The 4400 series with this option performs all the relevant transmitter and receiver measurements to ensure high quality in mobile phones. The 4456 HSDPA Non-Call Mode Option is used in both repair and manufacturing for fast and precise measurements during the alignment of wireless devices.

The options further extend the capabilities of the 4400 Mobile Phone Tester Series. These instruments are being used in many service centres because the 4400 is fast, accurate, flexible and reliable.

4916 Antenna Coupler

Next-Generation Antenna Coupler for All Mobile Phones

The 4916 Antenna Coupler is an essential extension to all mobile phone testers. The coupler supports extended frequency ranges for 3G mobile phone testing in addition to WLAN and Bluetooth. Using RF coupling, the 4916 allows non-wired connection mobile phone testing. The mobile phone antenna is also verified when the 4916 Antenna Coupler is used, resulting in a complete functional check of all mobile phone parts.

Lower Failure Rates and Shorter Repair Times
The new mechanical and RF design provides more accurate and sustainable measurements, resulting in less failures and shorter repair times. The 4916 is the first antenna coupler with a continuous bandwidth covering the important frequency bands for cellular wireless. Unique to other antenna couplers, the 4916 also provides a moving shuttle (U.S. patent pending) that allows you to move the mobile phone to the best out of five possible coupling positions. This means the coupling value is no longer impacted by the mobile’s size or its antenna position.

The 4916 can be delivered with four easily exchangeable shuttles; additional shuttles are available:

  • The standard shuttle allows you to move the mobile phone to the best out of five possible coupling positions in the vertical direction. This means the coupling value is no longer impacted by the mobile’s size or its antenna position.
  • The XY Shuttle further improves the measurement accuracy and repeatability by allowing to adjust the mobile’s position over the coupler in two dimensions.
  • The PDA Shuttle includes a universal cradle for PDAs or wider phones.
  • With the 1210 PCMCIA Data Card Testing Option, even wireless devices for notebook PCs can be tested.

Highlights:

  • Optimised for use with 4921 RF Shield
  • Coupling factors available with remote control software Lector
  • 3G ready solution for all mobile phone types
  • Wide frequency range for future technologies
  • Precise results with excellent RF match
  • Unique moving shuttle ensures best coupling position
  • High repeatability using snap-in (preset) positions

4921 RF Shield

New Shield Box Meets High Volume Testing of Service Centres and Manufacturers

4921 RF Shield is a new RF shielding solution for testing 3G mobile phones, as well as data cards and WLAN equipment in large service centres and production lines.  The 4921 is the optimum solution for service centres and manufacturers with high volume phone testing because it can endure the high open/close rates involved. The RF Shield is designed to eliminate interference from any adjacent mobile phones, the local base station, and to isolate the environment from the RF emitted from the phone (or other device under test).

Stringent Shielding Requirements for 3G Mobile Phone Testing
Most third-generation (3G) mobile phone systems are based on CDMA technology, which puts new demands on test environments.  The 4921 easily fulfils the 80 dB attenuation requirement for testing mobile phones for UMTS and other third-generation wireless networks.  The RF absorption inside the 4921 leads to low reflection within the box, thereby providing high-precision, stable RF measurement results with instruments connected to it.  The 4921 is the first of its kind to meet all the service, repair and manufacturing requirements in terms of attenuation, longevity, dimensions, and price
